Today someone asked a question about BTS V, particularly about how much money he makes and about his road to stardom. BTS V is adored by the ARMY all around the world. His look, talents, and warm personality make it almost impossible to not be a fan of his. Today’s article is about his early life and just how rich he is, which is something a lot of people have been curious about..
BTS V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, was born on December 30, 1995 in Daegu. He moved to Geochang with his family but moved back to Daegu.
Before he was born, his father had a Taemong, which is Korean for conception dream. In his dream, V’s father played a game of pool table against, not a person, but a dragon, and won a complete victory! (lol) And as a result, he won a yeouiju, which is an orb that is supposedly blessed with the abilities of omnipotence and creation at will.
Just an FYI, in East Asia, a dragon appearing in a dream is considered a mythical and almost godly, and so seeing a dragon in a taemong is particularly special and usually implies that the child will achieve something huge.
When V was little, both of his parents worked, so he was mostly raised by his grandmother till he was about 14. But perhaps what will really surprise you is that V might have become a farmer if he wasn’t a singer. He actually once said that he would’ve followed his grandparents’ footsteps in agriculture if he didn’t’ make it as a singer.
So how did V get interested in becoming a singer? It was when he was in the 7th grade that he decided to become a singer. Thankfully, his father was supportive, since his father himself used to dream of becoming an actor when he was younger.
By the way, V is a spitting image of his father. Have you seen their pictures side by side?
As a teenager, V initially applied for Kaywon High School of Arts but didn’t get in, so he first went to Daegu Jeil high school, and then transferred to Korea Art School where he was a music student. By the way, at Daegu Jeil high school, he met Jang Moon-bok of Limitless who is known for his appearance in Superstar K and Produce 101. V and Jang Moon-bok have been close friends ever since. When Limitless debuted, V actually sent a wreath to Jang Moon-bok to congratulate.
One fun fact about V is that he learned how to play the saxophone for 3 years. He said when he was 4 years into learning to play the saxophone, he was frustrated because he felt like his skills didn’t improve and his mouth hurt, so he quit.
When the group BTS was first introduced to the world, the group didn’t have V in it and was consisted of 6 members only. This was because V was basically the “secret weapon”. He was kept a secret until right before he officially debuted. So this one time, when the other 6 members were filming in the early days, V would hide by crouching down next to a trash can.
It was later revealed that Big Hit Entertainment had kept him a secret because V was young, cute, and naturally talented, so Big Hit was afraid that some other agency would “steal” him. Back then, Big Hit was a small company, so keeping V hidden was a nice move.
For the last few years, BTS’s contribution to the growth of Big Hit Entertainment has been tremendously huge. Before BTS’s success, though, Big Hit Entertainment was not exactly in a good place. BTS members had to live in a house together near the company, and it was really crowded. With several bunk-beds in a corner of a tiny room, BTS members would hang their clothes in the living room after doing laundry since it was the only space to dry their clothes.
Housing situation & Real estate
In 2015, 2 years after their debut, BTS moved to a bigger house. When they finally moved, V was super happy about the fact that he now had a roommate, unlike the time he had to share one room with the other 6 members altogether. You can check out all these stories in BTS’s reality show and see how happy he was.
And when they achieved even bigger success, BTS moved to an apartment in Hannam-dong, Seoul. This made the headline when it happened because this isn’t any apartment; it’s actually known as the most expensive apartment in the entire city of Seoul. The facility is top-notch. According to the statistics from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, this apartment was purchased for 8.2 billion won in 2016. Inside the building, there are auxiliary facilities, such as a spa, a swimming pool, a club house, a fitness center, and a golf court.
Aside from all this, V bought a top-class house called ‘Apelbaum’ in Seoul. He bought it for 5.1 billion won. It was entirely paid in cash, which made V one of the legit “young and rich” celebrities. V’s purchase of such an expensive house with nothing but cash is insane, when you consider the fact that BTS and Big Hit divide the income, 6 to 4, It also shows that he is super rich in addition to being super charming.
American magazine SEVENTEEN reported that V’s net worth is estimated to be about 8 million dollars. The magazine also wrote that BTS induces production worth over 4 trillion won in Korea., which is 26 times as much as the average revenue of legit mid-size firms in Korea, which is about 159.1 billion won. The magazine pointed out that the entire economic worth of BTS is about 5.6 trillion won.
Bit Hit Entertainment has become so much bigger than to BTS’s success. The company is now in the middle of building a new office building in Yongsan, Seoul. The new office building has 26 floors, 7 of which are basement floors. It has also been reported that this building is around 500 billion won.
